Trimma fucatum Winterbottom & Southcott, 2007
Harlot pygmy goby
Very special thanks for the photo of this beautyful Trimma fucatum to Dr. Gerry R. Allen
Collected specimens came from patch reefs and coral slopes with diverse coral cover, except for the 3 specimens collected from a steep (45°) wall of large boulders with little algal or coral growth
Main reference :
Winterbottom, R. and L. Southcott, 2007. Two new species of the genus Trimma (Percomorpha: Gobioidei) from western Thailand. Aqua Int. J. Ichthyol. 13(2):69-76. (Ref. 59340)
Systematik: Biota > Animalia (Kingdom) > Chordata (Phylum) > Vertebrata (Subphylum) > Gnathostomata (Superclass) > Pisces (Superclass) > Actinopterygii (Class) > Perciformes (Order) > Gobiidae (Family) > Gobiinae (Subfamily) > Trimma (Genus)
Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
