Info

Conus sponsalis Hwass in Bruguière, 1792

Like all species within the genus Conus, the Sponsalis Cone is predatory and venomous.

The colour of this species is yellowish white, with a few chestnut or red zigzag longitudinal markings, forming an interrupted broad superior, and often a narrower inferior band. The base of the shell is violaceous.

Diet: Polychaete worms, including Family Nereididae and Eunicidae.

The shell and animal coloration are similar to Conus mcbride, suggesting that the two species are very closely related.
