Info
Pseudupeneus prayensis (Cuvier, 1829)
Mullets or mullets (Mullidae) are a widespread family of perches (Perciformes).
The family comprises over 67 species in six genera and these are found in warm coastal regions of all seas.
Mullets hardly play a role in home aquariums, i.e. in tanks with normal dimensions. There are individual tropical species, but they are not common.
They are rarely imported specifically.
However, they can be kept, especially in established aquaria, which should have a certain minimum size and a capacity of several thousand liters.
Pseudupeneus prayensis is mainly found on muddy or sandy substrates. The mullet feeds on benthic invertebrates and can also be found over rocky reefs up to a depth of 300 meters. This species is not common in estuaries.
Commercially fished!
