Spirobranchus lirianeae was found in intertidal water zones, exclusively under rocks, artificial substrates are not colonized.
The tube of the small worm is opaque, white, purple or bluish, bluish inside.
Crown: Living specimens have a dark brown to brown base of the crown, then alternating white bands, iridescent pigmentation and light brown pigmentation,
in a "zebra-like" pattern.
The crown consists of two lobes arranged in a circle.
The operculum is funnel-shaped, with a calcareous end plate, deeply concave, without ornamentation, white, circular in plan view .
Etymology:
The specific epithet is a tribute to Professor Liriane Monte Freitas, from the Universidade Federal de Alagoas (Federal University of Alagoas), responsible for having trained numerous biologists, including the first author.
