Jordan & Seale, 1905
This nocturnal mouthbrooder lives in coastal reefs and bays but also occurs in estuaries, usually on mud or sandy substrates with algae-covered rocks or isolated soft corals.
These perches occur solitary or in small groups, they prefer water depths of 0 to 15 meters, although the fish have also been found at depths of over 80 meters.
The animals stay hidden during the day and only go looking for edible animal plankton when it gets dark.
