This sweetlips regularly occurs in a shoal, this fact and its size of up to 40cm make it clear that this is not an animal for a typical community aquarium.

In addition, the fish requires quite warm and more saline water and a rocky environment.

The sweetlip is fished intensively on the one hand, but is also reared in aquaculture on the other.
