Info

Gegenbaur, 1856

Comb jellyfish belong to the hollow animals and thus to the tissue animals (multicellular organisms).

The comb jellyfish looks like jellyfish, but is not a true jellyfish as it lacks the typical cnidocytes.

The comb jellyfish is widespread and feeds predatorily on smaller invertebrates, small crustaceans and various zooplankton. It also belongs to the zooplankton and is a food source for larger marine animals such as sea turtles, fish, seabirds and also sea hares; cannibalism is also possible.
