Platydoris cruenta (Quoy & Gaimard, 1832)

There are a number of species in the tropical Indo-Pacific Platydoris, which differ only in a few details.

The background colour of Platydoris cruenta is white or cream.The mantle is brown lined with red or yellow patches.Rhinophores and gills are brown lined such as the mantle.The foot is brown lined.The mantle is very firm and extremely rough.

Platydoris cruenta lives on shallow reefs and is nocturnal.

Very similar are Platydoris formosa (bright red rhinophores and black lines outlining the gills) and Platydoris cinereobranchiata (large red patches,have no lines).
