Distribution
Western Atlantic: Florida (USA), Bahamas, and northern Gulf of Mexico to Brazil. Northwest Atlantic: Canada.

Biology
Inhabits seagrass beds from bays and mangroves to offshore reefs. Adults move to open sea to spawn.
