Info
Just a few days ago, the first video appeared on the internet showing this rare perch.
You can find it here under the links, of course.
Rainfordia opercularis is super rare and probably only seen very occasionally in Japan or the USA. The body shape indicates its hidden lifestyle, and it is also endemic to the Australian coast.
Subsequent breeding information.
The rearing of Rainfordia opercularis larvae started with copepods of Parvocalanus crassirostris, after 2 weeks the switch to copepods Acartia tonsa and Pseudodiaptomus pelagicus . The nauplii of Parvocalanus are very small (70 µm) and pelagic (free-swimming).
A very detailed description of the rearing process can be found under further links.
At up to 2.000 € (05/2023) per fish, a financial highlight.
