Info

(Forsskål, 1775)

Aethaloperca rogaa is a pale brown, occasionally orange-coated, to black grouper with a pale pink to purple mau, hence the name redmouth grouper.
Small juveniles have a white rim on the caudal fin and mimic the angelfishes Centropyge vrolikii, Centropyge multispinis, and Centropyge nox until they outgrow their model in size.

Juvenile perches are imported for the specialty trade, but because of their expected final size, should only be purchased if a really large aquarium is available.
