Info

The Andromeda goby is rarely observed due to its small size, cryptobenthic habitat and mostly nocturnal activity, which makes it very difficult for divers to find.

Its habitat consists mainly of gravel banks, sandy bottoms and occasional algae mats with Posidonia oceanica or Caulerpa racemosa, where the small goby, which is usually a slow swimmer, rises about 20cm above the seabed when disturbed.

The dark goby is particularly pretty to look at when all its light-colored fins are widely spread.

We do not have any information about keeping this species.

Etymology:
The genus name “Didogobius” comes from Greek mythology and refers to “Dido, Queen of Carthage”, who killed herself when Aeneas left her.

Etymology.
The specific name “schlieweni” is of Latin origin and stands for “with a small lance”, derived from the Latin word “lanceola”, a diminutive of lancea, meaning “lancet”, i.e. a small lancet.
