Aniculus hopperae McLaughlin & Hoover, 1996
A hermit crab from the family Diogenidae - the left-handed hermit crabs. With them, the left scissors are usually larger than the right ones. With it, the opening of the snail shell in which the crab lives can be closed.
An unusual medium-sized species. Hairy, arms red with brown and jagged white lines. Endemic to Hawaii. lives in small ledges and burrows on rocky shores.
At first glance it looks similar to Aniculus sibogae hermit crab, but while the whole body gives the impression of being reddish-black, this species has a bright red base and the scissor armlets are blackish. The eye pattern is bright orange, so the way the colors are paired with the lace looks unique.
