Info

Unfortunately, we could not find any information about the size of the sponge during our research, all first descriptions of the synonyms listed below have "omitted" any information.

Didiscus oxeatus is a massive to crustose sponge, brown-reddish to orange on the outside, completely orange on the inside.
The sponge has a highly ornamented surface consisting of variously shaped plates and worm-like grooves.
The few visible oscula all have an orange membrane.

Similar species:
Myrmekioderma gyroderma and Myrmekioderma rea are externally very similar to Didiscus oxeatus; distinguishing their microscleres allows them to be distinguished.

Synonyms:
Didiscus flavus van Soest, 1984
Didiscus habanensis Alcolado, 1984
Didiscus oxeata Hechtel, 1983
