Gyractis sesere (Haddon & Shackleton, 1893)

Gyractis sesere is a small but widespread sea anemone that anchors itself mainly in crevices on rocky reef surfaces, on hard substrate with sand and boulders along the shoreline, where it forms large carpet-like colonies.

Adults are green, juveniles are gray or light brown with white spots, and the oral disc shows dark rays.
Gyractis sesere has a warty column and reaches a diameter of up to 4cm, the body column is quite small with just under 1cm.

The anemone has photoreceptor cells, but is not a symbiotic anemone.
