Info
Ovabunda impulsatilla is a smaller soft coral of the family Xeniidae, but seems to be more robust than its sister species Ovabunda faraunensi.
The initial description indicates that the polyps are pulsating in this species, but the paper "A revision of the octocoral genus Ovabunda Alderslade, 2001 (Anthozoa, Octocorallia, Xeniidae)" contradicts the pulsation of the species.
Similar species. Ovabunda impulsatilla is most similar to Ovabunda biseriata.
Synonyms:
Ovabunda aldersladei Janes, 2008
Xenia impulsatilla Verseveldt & Cohen, 1971 (original combination)
Xenia miniata Reinicke, 1997
