Info

Acanthistius brasilianus is diurnal and has been described as a "high-ranking carnivores and top predator" in its areas of occurrence, see the report "Assessing the sources of the fishing down marine food web process in the Argentinean-Uruguayan Common Fishing Zone".

Even voracious predators cannot protect themselves from parasites, in this case the perch is peisaked by the nematode Dichelyne (Cucullanellus) sciaenidicola Timi, Lanfranchi, Tavares & Luque, 2009.

In adult fish, the white pale body stripes of juveniles are much darker, this is also true for the fins, especially the caudal fin and the posterior dorsal fin.
