This compound ascidian is commonly known as the Strawberry Tunicate. The colonies are upright, fleshy, translucent, naked cones to 12 cm, sometimes slightly irregular and branched.
The Toadstool Ascidian can be found poking out from rock crevices, ledges and walls, of coral and rocky reefs. This species feed on plankton.
