Info

With just under 6cm Pycnochromis abruptus ( formerly Chromis abrupta) is certainly one of the smaller damselfishes, but it is considered rather peaceful and can be kept well in a sufficiently large reef aquarium with enough swimming space, if it is kept in a small group of 5 animals and the rest of the co-inhabitants in the aquarium are also sociable.
Since the marine perch enjoys both plant and meaty foods, the keeper should also take this into consideration when feeding the damselfish.

Pycnochromis abruptus comes only occasionally into the German specialized trade, makes with its striking coloration however a beautiful picture in the aquarium.

In the sea this endemic damselfish prefers shallower, coastal reefs and lagoons, where it can even form large shoals.
