Info

Favonigobius reichei (Bleeker, 1854)

This small goby can be found in saltwater, brackish water (estuaries), and even freshwater (rivers), and lives on sandy and muddy bottoms.
It often occurs in weedy areas of the intertidal zone, and numerous reports also confirm its presence in lagoons and rivers.
The animals live in groups in their habitats.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
